Samarth Weavers Training Program Hosted By FLO Jaipur

FLO Jaipur, led by chairperson Dr. Rimmi Shekhawat, proudly inaugurated the Samarth Weavers Training Program. It is a unique and heartfelt initiative in collaboration with the Weavers Service Centre (WSC), Government of India, headed locally by Deputy Director Ms. Ruchi Yadav.

This powerful training program was formally launched on 10th June 2025 at the Vimala Carpets unit, Banskho Village. It is dedicated to nurturing and empowering 50+ rural women by upskilling them in traditional handloom weaving techniques.

This 45-day hands-on training initiative is aimed at building technical weaving skills and boosting confidence among rural women artisans. Rooted in the values of self-reliance, economic independence, and cultural pride, this initiative also emphasises sustainability and craft preservation.

Participants are trained in the entire weaving ecosystem — from yarn preparation, dyeing, and designing, to the meticulous art of handloom weaving, with close attention to both tradition and modern adaptability.

Key Highlights Of the Program

  • 50+ women from the rural areas of Banskho village.
  • Comprehensive training in yarn work, dyeing, loom operation, traditional motifs, and market-ready production.
  • With the Weavers Service Centre, Govt. of India, lending institutional credibility and professional mentorship.
  • Conducted at the serene and culturally rooted setting of Vimala Carpets, a working example of living craftsmanship.
  • To promote economic empowerment, preserve cultural artistry, and equip women with practical, monetizable skills.

Program Impact

This initiative goes far beyond a skills training session. It is a celebration of India’s textile legacy, where every woven strand tells a story of strength, resilience, and artistry. With this program:

Women are gaining not just skills but identity, dignity, and earning potential.

Traditional weaving techniques are being documented, preserved, and passed on to new generations. Rural artisans are being empowered to turn heritage into livelihood, balancing culture with commerce.

The FLO Jaipur Committee left deeply moved and inspired by the craftsmanship, dedication, and enthusiasm of the participating women. Witnessing this rich synergy of government collaboration and grassroots commitment, the team experienced the true meaning of

“Skill. Strength. Sisterhood.”

The Samarth Weavers Training Program stands as a shining example of what is possible when community, craft, and compassion come together.
