Move, Groove, Repeat

YFLO Kolkata, under the leadership of Chairperson Anisha Juneja, hosted Move, Groove, Repeat on 10th September 2026 at The Drunken Teddy, Kolkata, bringing together 56 attendees for an experience centred on physical fitness, active living, and community engagement. The programme aligned with YFLO Kolkata’s Health & Wellness, Life Skills, and Start-Up Initiatives, emphasising the importance of structured physical activity while acknowledging the entrepreneurial opportunities within the fitness and wellness sector.

The highlight of the event was a Zumba session conducted by Ahana, combining dance-based aerobic exercise, rhythmic movement, and coordinated body movements to create an engaging fitness experience. Her session demonstrated how specialised fitness formats can translate physical activity into an interactive, participant-focused offering. From a physiological perspective, Zumba incorporates cardiovascular conditioning, muscular endurance, motor coordination, balance, and dynamic movement patterns.

Its continuous, music-led sequences can elevate heart rate and improve aerobic capacity when performed at an appropriate intensity. Repeated movement patterns also engage multiple muscle groups, while changes in direction and footwork challenge agility, coordination, and body awareness. The session demonstrated how dance-based fitness can support energy expenditure and cardiovascular health, while offering a varied alternative to conventional exercise routines.

Depending on duration and intensity, Zumba may also contribute to improved stamina and support long-term weight management when combined with balanced nutrition and consistent physical activity. The programme also highlighted the Start-Up Initiative by bringing attention to the service-led entrepreneurial potential of the fitness industry. Through Ahana’s Zumba session, participants experienced a structured fitness offering that combines specialised instruction, music, movement, and audience participation.

This provided a relevant example of how fitness professionals can develop distinctive wellness experiences, engage target audiences, and contribute to the expanding fitness-services ecosystem. Beyond its physical benefits, music-led group exercise can support mood and psychological well-being by providing an enjoyable outlet for stress relief. The collective format encouraged participation and made fitness a shared experience, potentially helping members develop a more positive and sustainable relationship with exercise.

The programme also aligned with the Life Skills Initiative by reinforcing the importance of self-care, consistency, and prioritising personal wellness. Through YFLO Spotlight – Community Building, the session encouraged interaction, camaraderie, and mutual motivation among participants.

With 56 attendees, Move, Groove, Repeat integrated aerobic fitness, coordination, stress management, and community engagement, while bringing visibility to a fitness-based service offering. The event reflected YFLO Kolkata’s commitment to promoting holistic well-being, active living, and entrepreneurial engagement through accessible, experience-led initiatives.
