FLO Mahjong Circle

FLO Amritsar, under the leadership of Chairperson Tannya Khanna, organized the FLO Mahjong Circle in collaboration with The Fifth Wind at Le Méridien Amritsar, bringing members together for an afternoon of learning, strategy and friendly competition. The session introduced participants to Mahjong, an iconic tile-based game that combines concentration, observation and tactical decision-making. Designed to accommodate both beginners and experienced players, the gathering began with an introduction to the game and its fundamentals, allowing members to familiarise themselves with tile suites, rules and strategic combinations before moving into gameplay.

Guest instructor Rakhee Bathija, representing The Fifth Wind, guided participants through the nuances of Mahjong, explaining tile combinations and tactical approaches. With tables filled with enthusiastic players, the afternoon progressed from learning the basics to focused gameplay, with members testing their understanding, exchanging strategies and enjoying the challenge of the game. The event also showcased The Fifth Wind, founded by designer Misha Gupta, who brings together traditional Mahjong gameplay and Indian craftsmanship.

The brand’s bespoke sets feature handcrafted and hand-painted tiles, reflecting India’s colours, artistry and attention to detail. Made in India, the sets offered participants an opportunity to experience a contemporary Indian interpretation of a globally played game. Chairperson Tannya Khanna welcomed members and acknowledged Ravneet for coordinating the arrangements with The Fifth Wind. She also welcomed Rakhee Bathija, recognising her enthusiasm for Mahjong and her dedication to the session. The gathering was facilitated by Ravneet, ensuring a smooth and engaging experience across the tables.

The FLO Mahjong Circle created a setting where members could learn something new, exercise strategic thinking and enjoy the camaraderie of playing together. The combination of guided instruction, interactive gameplay and distinctive Indian design made the afternoon an engaging social experience.

Through this initiative, FICCI FLO Amritsar reinforced the importance of member-focused activities that encourage participation, shared interests and informal networking. The event brought together mindful engagement, recreational learning and the joy of discovering a new game as a community.
