Kahani se Screen tak — In Conversation with Divya Prakash Dubey

A Saturday evening, a room full of curious women, and one author with a story about stories. That, in short, was how the Kahani se Screen Tak event on 3rd October 2026 went at Mega Motors in Gomti Nagar.

Divya Prakash Dubey began where most good storytelling does, with the blank page. He took members through the thinking behind Musafir Cafe, the book that made his name among Hindi readers, and what it meant to write something so personal and then watch it find an audience far larger than he had imagined. From there the conversation moved to the screen. The book’s journey to Netflix gave members a rare look at what happens when a story leaves its author’s hands and enters a very different medium.

What made the evening work was how unhurried it felt. There was no slide deck and no checklist of takeaways to tick off. The talk wandered the way good conversations do, from writing to reflection to the small habits of noticing that make a writer. Several members said afterwards that they had not realised how much they missed simply listening to someone tell a story well.

The room itself was a big part of the evening. The audience was warm and curious, and the questions came readily. Members asked about the writing process, about holding on to a creative voice, and about life as much as literature. Dubey answered with the same ease he brought to the stage, and the exchange often felt more like a chat among friends than a formal Q&A.

For FLO Lucknow, the session sat comfortably alongside its business and policy programming. The chapter’s belief is that a woman who runs a company, a household or a career also needs time to pause, reflect and feed her imagination. About fifty members used this evening to do exactly that, and went home with a few new ways of looking at the world around them.
