Aviation is no longer only about becoming a pilot. From aerospace and drone technology to engineering, meteorology, innovation, and entrepreneurship, the sector is opening up new possibilities for young women. With this vision, FICCI FLO Mumbai collaborated with INNOVARI for Girls in Aviation Day 2026, giving young girls an opportunity to experience the world of aviation and technology beyond the classroom.
Through hands-on learning, industry exposure, and conversations with women who have built careers in the sector, the initiative encouraged girls to see STEM and aviation not as distant possibilities, but as careers they can actively pursue. Sharing their journeys and perspectives were Dr. Harpreet A. De Singh (President, IWPA & G100 Space Technology & Aviation India Chair), Ms. Alina Usmani (President, Drone Wing, IWPA & Drone Pilot), Ms. Shubhangi Bhute (Mumbai Airport MET), Capt. Ranjeeta Mali (Commercial Pilot) and Mr. Vishram Bapat (Founder, INNOVARI).
A significant milestone of the day was the signing of an MoU between FICCI FLO Mumbai and INNOVARI. The MoU was signed by Ms. Seema Saroj, Chairperson, FICCI FLO Mumbai, and Mr. Vishram Bapat, Founder, INNOVARI. The collaboration will focus on creating meaningful pathways for women through STEM education, skill development, mentorship, entrepreneurship, industry-academia engagement, leadership and career opportunities.
For FLO Mumbai, the intent is clear: exposure must lead to opportunity, skills must lead to careers, and aspiration must have a pathway. When a young girl can see where she belongs, she can begin to imagine how far she can go.
