Semiclassical Singing Workshop

FLO Indore organised a three-day Workshop for Classical Singing from 7 to 9 May, focusing on semiclassical singing, artistic development, and opportunities within the performing arts industry. The programme was conducted by Mr. Arjun Sharma and brought together 10 FLO members for an immersive learning experience. The workshop was designed to provide participants with a foundation in semiclassical singing through structured instruction and practical exercises.

The sessions covered important elements of vocal modulation, rhythm, expression, and performance techniques, helping participants understand the nuances involved in presenting a musical composition effectively. A key feature of the programme was its emphasis on hands-on learning. Participants were introduced to the process of creating backing tracks and understanding their role in musical performances.

This practical exposure helped them appreciate how preparation, technical understanding, and consistent practice contribute to a more confident and engaging stage presentation. Beyond developing singing skills, the workshop highlighted the wider possibilities offered by the performing arts. Participants were encouraged to view semiclassical singing not only as a creative pursuit but also as a potential career avenue.

Opportunities in live performances, music teaching, studio recording, and related creative fields were discussed as possible pathways for individuals interested in pursuing music professionally. The programme also brought attention to the potential for children to explore music as a meaningful skill and future career option. The initiative reached 300 FLO members through its workshop invitation, with 10 members identified and participating in the three-day training programme. The focus group enabled direct engagement, practical learning, and artistic skill development.

The workshop reflected FICCI FLO Indore’s commitment to promoting cultural arts, encouraging lifelong learning, and creating awareness about creative career opportunities for women. By combining musical training with an understanding of professional possibilities, the programme sought to nurture confidence, creativity, and appreciation for India’s musical traditions.

Overall, the three-day initiative served as a platform for artistic exploration and skill enhancement, reinforcing the relevance of classical and semiclassical music in contemporary cultural and professional settings.
