FLO Mumbai, under the leadership of Seema Saroj, Chairperson, brought together members for an immersive cultural experience, “Gardens of Gestures & Enroute,” celebrating India’s textile, craft, and artistic heritage. Organised under the Textile & Handicrafts Vertical, the afternoon began with a specially curated walkthrough of Garden of Gestures at Chanakya International, followed by a visit to En Route at the Dr. Bhau Daji Lad Museum.
The experience was curated by Monisha Gidwani, Joint Secretary, FICCI FLO Mumbai, as part of the chapter’s continued efforts to connect members with India’s creative and cultural ecosystem. A key highlight was the interaction with Karishma Swali, who shared the vision behind the projects and engaged with members in a dialogue between India’s traditional craftsmanship and contemporary creative practices.
The 25 participating members explored intricate textiles, evocative installations and exceptional craftsmanship. The exhibitions demonstrated how India’s artisanal traditions can evolve through contemporary artistic expression while retaining their connection to cultural identity, heritage and collective memory. The experience encouraged members to look beyond the aesthetic appeal of textiles and crafts, recognising the knowledge, skill, creativity and communities that sustain these traditions.
The initiative reinforced FICCI FLO Mumbai’s commitment to celebrating India’s living craft heritage, promoting awareness of its creative ecosystem and encouraging meaningful engagement with art, textiles and design.
