Circle of Influence, Buta aur Baana

FLO Uttarakhand, under the leadership of Chairperson Ms. Tripti Behl, organized “Buta aur Baana: The Art of Thread and Tale,” a highly specialized, intimate evening. It was a premium edition of its signature “Circle of Influence – For the Member, By the Member” initiative. This flagship series is designed to promote internal entrepreneurship and uplift local female-led businesses.

The title itself, translating to “Motif and Weft,” perfectly set the stage for an immersive celebration of traditional Indian craftsmanship, textile heritage, and the entrepreneurial spirit behind luxury homegrown fashion. Held at the elegant Address One facility on Rajpur Road, Dehradun, the gathering served as a unique collaborative showcase for two prominent homegrown brands: Mirasa, led by Naina Nagalia, and Shawl Story, founded by Lubna Mirza.

The event kicked off with a personal walkthrough of the Mirasa store, allowing attendees to experience the brand’s premium Indian occasion and wedding wear collections up close. Following the walkthrough, both founders took the stage to share their distinct design philosophies and the personal journeys behind building their respective brands. A major highlight of the evening was a practical, expert-led segment focusing on the preservation and care of heirloom textiles, where attendees learned valuable conservation techniques and the art of traditional darning (Rafoogari) to maintain delicate family fabrics.

Moving away from rigid presentation formats, the chapter integrated a custom, textile-themed interactive game that tested knowledge of traditional motifs, Indian weaves, and fabric textures in a fun, lively atmosphere. Supported heavily by the chapter’s executive committee—including Kiran Bhatt Todaria, Smriti Batta, Harpreet Kaur Marwah, Maneet Suri, and Shruti Gupta—the event successfully blended business networking with cultural education. The evening concluded as a collaborative space for the attendees to exchange cross-industry business insights, strengthen creative alliances, and honor the rich storytelling woven into Indian textiles.
