FLO Chennai, under its Visual Arts Vertical, successfully organised the Wall Mural Project at Ellen Sharma School, OMR, Chennai, from 25th to 28th May 2026. The initiative was undertaken as part of FLO’s ongoing commitment towards community outreach and educational enrichment through creative expression and collaborative social impact initiatives.
The project focused on transforming the school’s library and computer room into colourful, engaging, and educational spaces through thoughtfully designed murals. Led by FLO member and mural artist Jagruti Gulechha, the initiative brought together a team of talented artists including Varadharajan, Devaki, and Srimathi, along with young artists from FLO member Sarada Sriram’s Abacus School and FLO member Samyuktha Baliga.
The murals were carefully curated to suit the learning needs and age group of the students. Themes included the solar system, Stone Age, months of the year, and several other educational and imaginative concepts aimed at making the learning environment more interactive and visually appealing. Bright colours, creative illustrations, and engaging storytelling elements transformed the walls into educational aids that encouraged curiosity and active learning among students.
The collaborative nature of the project stood out as members, artists, volunteers, and young participants worked together over four days to bring the vision to life. The initiative not only beautified the learning spaces but also demonstrated how art can positively influence education, creativity, and student engagement.
The completed murals were warmly appreciated by the students, teachers, and school management, who recognised the positive impact the transformed spaces would have on children’s learning experiences. The vibrant environment created through the murals added energy and inspiration to the classrooms while fostering a joyful atmosphere for students.
The Wall Mural Project reflected FICCI FLO Chennai’s commitment to meaningful community engagement and showcased the power of art as a tool for education, collaboration, and social impact. The initiative successfully combined creativity with purpose, leaving a lasting impression on both the school and the participating members.
