FLO Kolkata, under the leadership of Chairperson Mansi Agarwal, facilitated a 10-Day Drone Skilling & Certification Workshop, commencing on 28 September 2026 in Kolkata, under its STEM, AI & Digital Literacy initiative. The intensive workshop has been structured to provide participants with sustained exposure to drone technology and develop capabilities that can progress beyond introductory awareness towards practical technical competence and future employability.
The ten-day format gives the intervention greater depth than a conventional awareness session. Participants are taken through a structured learning experience intended to strengthen their understanding of drone technology while developing the confidence required to engage with an emerging technical field. The emphasis is on learning through progressive training and practical engagement, allowing participants to build familiarity with the technology rather than merely receiving a theoretical introduction.
The choice of drone technology is particularly relevant to the evolving employment landscape. Drones are increasingly finding applications across agriculture, mapping, surveillance, logistics, infrastructure and public-service delivery, creating demand for individuals with specialised operational capabilities. YRG MERF’s wider 2026 initiative with industry partners similarly identifies drone operations as a future-ready skill with potential livelihood applications for women.
The workshop is being delivered in collaboration with RC Hobby Tech Solutions Pvt. Ltd., a Kolkata-based organisation associated with drone pilot training. Its involvement brings specialised technical expertise into the skilling process and strengthens the programme’s practical orientation.
YRG MERF serves as the Placement & Logistics Partner, adding an important employability dimension to the intervention. YRG MERF’s publicly articulated drone-skilling initiative focuses on structured training, certification, and preparation of women to become employable, industry-ready drone operators.
A significant outcome of the workshop will be formal certification for participants upon completion. This provides learners with tangible recognition of the training undertaken and creates a credential that can support their future applications for internships, further technical opportunities and employment-oriented pathways. The intervention is therefore designed not as a standalone technology workshop, but as a skill-building bridge towards professional opportunity.
Participants completing the ten-day training will leave with greater technological familiarity, a stronger understanding of drone operations, recognised training credentials and a clearer pathway for pursuing further practical experience. The programme represents FLO Kolkata’s endeavour to make emerging technologies more accessible as avenues for skill acquisition, professional mobility and economic participation, particularly by creating structured opportunities for participants to enter domains traditionally perceived as highly technical or specialised.
