FLO Mumbai, under the leadership of Chairperson Ms. Seema Saroj, hosted an engaging “Healing with Art” workshop for 18 members, beautifully facilitated by Ms. Natasha Singh and Ms. Rina at the Art & Therapy Loft, Khar West. The session was attended by FLO Mumbai Chairperson Ms Seema Saroj, along with Executive Committee members Ms Upasana, Ms Pooja, and Ms Jayshree. For many participants, this was their first experience of exploring art beyond aesthetics—as a means of self-expression, reflection, and emotional well-being.
Through thoughtfully curated activities such as still-life drawing, rainbow painting, and colour-based exercises, members explored whether they naturally operate more from a space of action, thought, or feeling. The blind portrait activity brought plenty of laughter as partners discovered their wonderfully unedited interpretations of one another! In contrast, the repetitive doodling exercise offered a calming and grounding experience, demonstrating how simple creative practices can help quiet overthinking, improve focus, and bring the mind back to the present moment.
Members especially appreciated that these were easy techniques they could carry home and share with their children and families. What stood out was how effortlessly the two-hour session passed. Even members who traveled from South Mumbai to Khar felt the journey was completely worthwhile. Natasha and Rina were exceptional facilitators, gently helping each participant discover something about herself through art—without judgment, pressure, or the need to be “good” at it. Art as as a means of self-expression, reflection and emotional well-being.
