FLO Ahmedabad, in collaboration with Rotary Club Ahmedabad Sarvam, established a Robotics STEAM Lab at R.M. Patel Vidyalaya in Palla Village, Aravalli District, on 14th July 2026. The event was organised under the chapter’s STEM Initiative and forms part of its 2026-27 project series. The Robotics Kit was generously donated by Sonali Shah through the CSR initiative of Shree Prefab Steels.
The project was conceptualised and coordinated by the STEM Initiative Leads, Dr. Geetika Saluja, PhD, and Sonali Shah, under the guidance of Chairperson Mrs. Usha Jaiswal. At the inauguration, Dr. Saluja and Mr. Prashant Mamtora, Founder of HAVI, addressed the gathering. They spoke about why Robotics and AI education matters for rural students and how early exposure can prepare them for future careers.
The school serves students from Palla and neighbouring villages, most of whom belong to socially and economically challenged Scheduled Tribe communities with strong aspirations for higher education. The lab gives them a chance to learn through experience in areas such as Robotics, Coding, AI, Computational Thinking and Design Thinking. More than 600 students are expected to benefit.
The lab is also the start of a three-year mentorship programme, which aims to make robotics a lasting part of classroom learning instead of a one-time gift. The project shows how corporate CSR, a women-led chapter, a service organisation, and a technology partner can work together for one purpose. It reflects FLO Ahmedabad’s belief that quality STEM education should reach every child, including those in the most remote villages.
