Mohabbat Ke Rang – A Musical Journey of Love

FLO Lucknow, under the leadership of Chairperson Ms. Simran Sahni, hosted a heartfelt and engaging Group Singing Workshop titled “Mohabbat Ke Rang – A Musical Journey of Love” under the Performing Arts initiative.

The four-day workshop, held at The Melons’ Studio in Lucknow, was neither a lecture nor a networking session. Instead, it brought together 32 women across two batches, who came together to learn the art of singing and, in the process, discovered something about themselves.

Mohabbat Ke Rang began with the fundamentals of Sur and Taal — the building blocks of melody and rhythm. While most participants had encountered these concepts as listeners, many had never practised locating and holding a note themselves. For several members, this represented unfamiliar and slightly uncomfortable territory. Singing in a group, without the safety of blending anonymously into a large crowd, requires a level of vulnerability that few other activities demand so directly.

Across the four days, that discomfort gradually softened. Members moved from tentative and quiet participation to fuller, more confident voices — not because the technical challenges disappeared, but because the group itself became a safe space in which to be imperfect.

Singing in harmony requires trust: trusting one’s own voice enough to add it to others, and trusting the group enough to know that a missed note will not invite judgement.

The workshop’s central theme — love expressed through music — gave the sessions an emotional depth that went beyond technical training. Members were not simply learning songs; they were using music as a means to access and express emotions that often have little structured space in everyday life.
