FLO Chennai, under the leadership of Chairperson Dr. Amulya Rao, hosted an insightful and engaging wellness session titled “Glow Up Health – Helping You Take Control of Your Own Biology,” focused on preventive healthcare, metabolic wellness, longevity, and the role of technology in personalized health optimization. The speakers began by addressing the alarming rise of lifestyle-related diseases in India, particularly diabetes and metabolic disorders.
It was highlighted that India currently has nearly 100 million diagnosed diabetics and over 130 million pre-diabetic individuals, emphasizing the urgent need for preventive healthcare awareness and early intervention. The discussion introduced the distinction between treatment, prevention, and optimization in healthcare. While conventional healthcare systems are highly effective at treating diseases after diagnosis, the speakers emphasized that true wellness begins much earlier through prevention, continuous monitoring, and personalized optimization.
Using the hypothetical example of “Priya,” a 47-year-old woman balancing family, work, and health challenges, the speakers explained how many individuals proactively consult multiple specialists, nutritionists, trainers, and diagnostic centers, yet still struggle because healthcare data remains fragmented across different professionals. The session highlighted the need for integrated healthcare systems that connect biomarkers, sleep patterns, nutrition, exercise, hormonal changes, and long-term health trends into a unified wellness journey.
A major insight shared during the event was that “normal” health markers do not always indicate optimal wellness. The speakers stressed that individuals may not be clinically ill yet still experience fatigue, poor sleep, low energy, inflammation, or metabolic imbalance. This reinforced the importance of longitudinal tracking of biomarkers such as fasting insulin, blood glucose, inflammatory markers, and nutritional deficiencies.
The session also explored the growing popularity of GLP-1 medications such as Ozempic and Mounjaro for weight management and metabolic health. While acknowledging their effectiveness, the speakers emphasized the importance of responsible medical supervision, proper nutrition, strength training, sleep management, and continuous monitoring while undergoing such protocols.
Attendees were introduced to AI-powered health systems capable of tracking medication schedules, nutritional intake, body metrics, sleep quality, side effects, and biological age indicators. The speakers demonstrated how wearable devices, meal-tracking through AI image recognition, and personalized dashboards can simplify health management and encourage informed lifestyle decisions.
The session concluded with an engaging demonstration of how AI-driven healthcare ecosystems can act as personalized wellness companions by continuously tracking, analyzing, and guiding individuals throughout their health journeys. The event successfully encouraged participants to rethink healthcare beyond treatment and adopt proactive, preventive, and optimized approaches toward long-term well-being and longevity. Around 100 members attended the Glow Up Health session, which allowed them to be part of an interactive talk and technology demonstration.
