The Art & Power of Self-Journaling: Turning Our Thoughts into Our Way of Life

The Art & Power of Self-Journaling: Turning Our Thoughts into Our Way of Life

FLO Lucknow, under the leadership of Chairperson Simran Sahni, organized an engaging session, “The Art & Power of Self-Journaling: Turning Our Thoughts into Our Way of Life,” at Xiii by Grand JBR. The session aimed to introduce members to journaling not merely as a diary habit, but as a meaningful daily practice capable of shaping mindset, presence, and the way women navigate their ambitions.

Ms. Tina Sewak, a FLO Lucknow member, opened the session by framing journaling not as a task to complete, but as a relationship to build between a woman and her inner life. As the session began, many members shared that their thoughts around gratitude, ambition, and being present often remained fleeting moments of awareness. Ms. Sewak’s approach addressed this gap directly, guiding members through practical journaling techniques designed to turn passing reflections into a genuine, repeatable ritual.

The session explored several dimensions of the practice, including gratitude journaling, where members practised identifying specific, small moments of goodness rather than relying on vague expressions of thankfulness; presence-based writing, which encouraged members to focus on the present moment rather than the constant mental noise of what comes next; and purposeful manifestation, through which members articulated their intentions on paper with a clarity that speaking alone often cannot achieve.

What emerged across the room was a sense of quiet honesty. Members began writing, some hesitantly at first, and discovered that their own words, when read back to themselves, often carried more insight than they had anticipated. For FLO’s Evolve Circle, the session reinforced a theme the community has returned to often: meaningful personal growth does not always come through grand gestures. Sometimes, it begins with a pen, a page, and the quiet discipline of noticing what is good and allowing it to remain a little longer.
