FLO Kanpur organised the Swasth Sakhi, Samruddh Sakhi – Menstrual Hygiene & Women’s Health Awareness Programme on 28 July 2026 with the objective of promoting menstrual hygiene, women’s health, and access to essential healthcare services among rural women. The programme focused on creating awareness about safe menstrual practices while addressing the myths, misconceptions, and social taboos that often prevent women from openly discussing menstruation and seeking timely medical support.
The event brought together healthcare expertise and grassroots community engagement. Dr. Priyanka Bhargava, Gynecologist, guided participants on important aspects of menstrual and reproductive health, menstrual hygiene, anaemia, and the importance of regular health check-ups and timely medical consultation. Sneha Gupta also contributed to the awareness initiative by engaging with participants and reinforcing key messages related to hygiene, health awareness, and women’s well-being.
A key component of the programme was a free health check-up camp organised in association with Paliwal Diagnostics. Participants were provided with blood sugar and haemoglobin testing to help identify common health concerns. Women found to be anaemic were provided free medical consultations, while medicine kits were distributed to all participants. These services helped make basic healthcare more accessible to women who may otherwise face financial or social barriers in seeking medical attention.
The programme also emphasised practical and affordable menstrual hygiene solutions. Free sanitary napkins were distributed among rural women, along with guidance on safe menstrual practices and maintaining personal hygiene during menstruation. The initiative encouraged women to prioritise their health and develop greater confidence in discussing menstrual and reproductive health concerns.
The outreach extended across villages and government schools with the support of Gram Teachers, enabling the programme to reach women at the grassroots level. A total of 85 rural women benefited from the initiative, with participation from 9 FICCI FLO members.
Through a combination of awareness, medical screening, consultation, and distribution of essential hygiene products, Swasth Sakhi, Samruddh Sakhi sought to create meaningful and sustainable awareness around women’s health. The initiative reinforced FICCI FLO Kanpur’s commitment to empowering women through knowledge, healthcare access, dignity, and improved overall well-being.
