FLO Kanpur organized The Valedictory Session of the Rural Skilling Centre’s Hand Embroidery Training Programme was held on 10 July 2026 at Gram Sachivalaya, Baniyapurwa, Kanpur, marking the successful completion of a three-month skill development initiative for rural women. The programme was organised with the objective of equipping women from rural communities with practical, market-relevant skills that could help them pursue sustainable livelihood opportunities, gain financial independence, and contribute meaningfully to their households and communities.
A total of 25 rural women participated in the hand embroidery training programme and received hands-on training in embroidery techniques, enabling them to develop their creativity and improve their ability to produce quality handcrafted products. Alongside vocational training, participants were also provided with digital and financial literacy sessions. These additional components were designed to strengthen their understanding of digital tools, financial management, and the practical aspects of becoming economically self-reliant.
The valedictory session provided an opportunity to acknowledge the efforts and achievements of the participants and celebrate their progress throughout the programme. Ms. Rozy Maindoliya, Founder & Director of ThirdEye, attended as the Special Speaker and shared valuable insights on the importance of connecting skill development with sustainable employment opportunities. ThirdEye has already employed 10 of the trained women and has expressed its commitment to creating employment opportunities for the remaining participants.
The initiative also focused on creating avenues for the women to showcase and market their skills and products beyond the training centre. As part of this effort, the participants will have an opportunity to display their handcrafted work at FLO Bazaar, providing them with greater visibility and potential access to customers and markets.
The programme reflects a holistic approach to women’s empowerment by combining skill development, financial and digital literacy, employment linkages, and market exposure. With the participation of 15 FICCI FLO members and 25 rural women beneficiaries, the initiative represents a meaningful step towards strengthening livelihoods and promoting economic empowerment among women in rural Kanpur.
