Menstrual Health & Hygiene Awareness Session

FLO Bangalore, under the leadership of Chairperson Ms. Deepa Boopesh Reddy, organized the Menstrual Health & Hygiene Awareness Session under its Social Impact Circle, in partnership with the Bangalore Adolescent Health Academy, WOW, and RBANMS PU College. Held on 11th August 2026, the session focused on empowering adolescent girls with accurate, practical, and age-appropriate information about menstrual health and hygiene.

The programme brought together healthcare professionals and young students in a safe and supportive learning environment. The session addressed menstruation as a natural and important part of adolescent development, while encouraging students to approach the subject without hesitation, embarrassment, or stigma.

Healthcare experts, including Dr. Shalini Agasthi, Dr. Sathyavathi K., and Dr. Varsha Sreenivasa Kashyap, shared valuable insights on menstrual hygiene, adolescent health, personal care, and common concerns associated with menstruation. Their expert-led discussions helped students understand the importance of maintaining good hygiene practices and paying attention to changes in their health that may require appropriate medical guidance.

A key component of the programme was encouraging open interaction. Students were provided with an opportunity to ask questions, clarify doubts, and address common myths and misconceptions surrounding menstruation. This helped create a more comfortable space for conversations about women’s health and encouraged participants to seek reliable information from qualified healthcare professionals.

The session also highlighted the broader importance of adolescent health education. Menstrual health is closely connected with confidence, participation in education and daily activities, emotional well-being, and overall quality of life. By equipping young girls with knowledge and encouraging open conversations, the initiative aimed to strengthen their ability to make informed choices about their health and well-being.

The collaboration between FICCI FLO Bengaluru, healthcare organisations, and RBANMS PU College demonstrated the value of partnerships in addressing important areas of adolescent women’s health. The programme also opened avenues for continued engagement with the institution through future awareness initiatives.

Building on the session, there is scope for additional programmes covering women’s health, nutrition, mental well-being, life skills, and other aspects of adolescent development. Through such initiatives, FICCI FLO Bengaluru continues to promote health awareness, confidence, and empowerment among young women while creating meaningful connections between educational institutions and health experts.
