FLO Bangalore, under the leadership of Chairperson Ms. Deepa Boopesh Reddy, organized the Ranga-Siri Mixed Style Dance Workshop – Culmination Performance, an initiative supported by the chapter’s Social Impact Circle, aimed at empowering young women through performing arts, confidence-building, and life skills. The event marked the culmination of a 3-4 week mixed-style dance workshop conducted for students of RBANMS PEO College.
Over the course of the workshop, 50 students received structured dance training, learning choreography across mixed dance styles while developing discipline, coordination, teamwork, confidence, and stage presence. The culmination performance allowed the participants to transform their learning and preparation into a live public showcase, allowing them to experience the excitement and accomplishment of performing before an audience.
Dr. Sahana Das, Director of RBANMS, was the Special Guest for the workshop. As the Director of the institution, her participation reinforced the importance of supporting initiatives that nurture students’ talents and life skills. The performance was held on the RBANMS grounds as part of the college’s annual midnight Independence Day celebration, a much-anticipated tradition on campus. The celebration provided a vibrant and meaningful platform for the students to present their work in a community setting.
The showcase took place across two days. On 14th December, 13 students who were selected as the best performers from the group of 50 took centre stage. They performed in matching orange, white, and green T-shirts sponsored by FICCI FLO, creating a vibrant and unified visual identity for the performance. On 15th December, all 50 students who had participated in the workshop performed the same choreography, this time in their own regular clothing, allowing the entire cohort to showcase their progress.
The performances were very well received by the audience and reflected the dedication and consistency demonstrated by the students throughout the workshop. Beyond dance training, the initiative provided the participants with an opportunity to express themselves creatively, build confidence, work as a team, and develop the discipline required for a stage performance.
The initiative also highlighted the potential of performing arts as a pathway for youth development, wellness, and future career exploration. Building on the positive response, plans are being considered to conduct similar dance workshops in other educational institutions and organise sessions introducing students to potential career pathways in the performing arts.
Through this initiative, FICCI FLO Bengaluru’s Social Impact Circle demonstrated how sustained engagement in the arts can create meaningful opportunities for youth empowerment, personal growth, and community participation.
