Women’s Reproductive Health & Cervical Cancer Awareness Session

FLO Kolkata, under the leadership of Chairperson Ms. Mansi Agarwal, conducted a Women’s Reproductive Health & Cervical Cancer Awareness Session as part of its Health & Wellness Initiative, with a focused emphasis on reproductive health, prevention, and informed healthcare choices. The session was planned with the involvement of a gynaecologist, bringing a professional medical perspective to discussions on reproductive health, cervical cancer awareness, menstrual health, and preventive healthcare.

The session brought together approximately 50 women between the ages of 18 and 45, including homemakers, students and women engaged in home-based small-scale businesses. The programme was designed to address areas of women’s health that are often under-discussed despite their importance to long-term well-being. The interaction focused on menstrual health, reproductive health and cervical cancer awareness, while highlighting the importance of preventive healthcare and regular medical check-ups.

Participants were encouraged to understand the significance of paying attention to changes in their health and seeking professional medical support at the appropriate time. An important aspect of the session was the discussion around common myths and misconceptions associated with menstrual and reproductive health. By encouraging open questions and conversation, the programme created an environment in which participants could seek clarity on subjects that may otherwise remain unaddressed due to social hesitation, lack of information or misconceptions.

The session also addressed practical aspects of women’s health, including the importance of appropriate menstrual hygiene, the use of proper sanitary products, nutrition and maintaining regular health checks. The discussion reinforced that preventive healthcare is not limited to responding to illness, but also involves informed choices and regular attention to one’s well-being.

Participants engaged actively with the facilitators, asked questions and shared their concerns, making the programme interactive rather than purely instructional. The exchange helped translate healthcare information into practical knowledge that women could incorporate into their everyday lives.

The session received very positive feedback, with participants particularly appreciating its informative, interactive and practical approach. The initiative reinforced FLO Kolkata’s commitment to creating accessible platforms where women can acquire reliable health information, challenge misconceptions and develop greater confidence in prioritising their reproductive and overall health.
