Code Reboot – Hackathon

The Code Reboot – Hackathon was organised under the STEM/AI Initiative of FLO Kolkata, with the objective of nurturing computational thinking, logical reasoning, innovation, and collaborative problem-solving among young learners. In an increasingly technology-driven world, the ability to analyse challenges, think critically, and develop structured solutions has become an essential skill. 

Held at BSS School, Kolkata, the Hackathon was therefore designed to move beyond theoretical learning and provide students with an engaging, practical platform to apply their programming knowledge in a challenging and competitive environment. The initiative encouraged participants to work collaboratively, interpret problem statements, develop coding-based solutions, and demonstrate adaptability under time-bound conditions. 

The Hackathon was conceived as an experiential learning platform that allowed participants to move beyond classroom-based theoretical understanding and engage directly with problem-solving through technology. Students were challenged to apply logical reasoning, computational thinking, and programming knowledge while working within a structured and time-bound competitive environment.

The format encouraged participants to collaborate, interpret coding challenges, develop possible solutions, and refine their approach through discussion and experimentation. By working through practical problems, students gained valuable exposure to the process of analysing a challenge, structuring a solution, and translating ideas into executable outcomes.

The event also created an opportunity for young learners to experience the collaborative nature of technology and innovation. 

Participants were encouraged to exchange ideas, divide responsibilities, and collectively work towards achieving their objectives. Such engagement helped strengthen not only technical aptitude but also essential life and professional skills, including communication, teamwork, adaptability, and resilience.

Impact & Outcome 

The event brought together 46 young adult students for an engaging, on-site coding challenge designed to encourage innovation, teamwork, and practical application of programming skills. By participating in the Hackathon, students were exposed to the practical application of programming languages and computational concepts while strengthening their confidence in approaching complex challenges. 

The programme also aimed to foster curiosity towards STEM education and create greater awareness of the opportunities emerging within technology, coding, Artificial Intelligence, and innovation-led careers. 

Through such experiential learning opportunities, FLO Kolkata seeks to encourage young minds to embrace technology not merely as users, but as future creators, innovators, and problem-solvers.
