FLO Legal Advocacy Initiative

Bridging gap between having rights and actively exercising power for women.

Overview

Many women in India still lack proactive legal knowledge, leaving them vulnerable during personal, professional, and digital crises. Also, there are critical gaps, such as inadequate succession planning, poor cyber-hygiene, unmitigated board liabilities, and limited grassroots access to basic rights and identity documentation.

This is where FLO Legal Advocacy Initiative works by simplifying law and synthesising it in a way that reaches every woman. Women have been participating in various FLO legal literacy sessions and workshops, becoming informed citizens and getting immune to various legal problems.

Objective

To shift the legal narrative for women from reactive crisis management to proactive, action-oriented, and transformational. The initiative empowers them into a legally resilient network empowered to protect their legacy, lead with compliance, and advocate for systemic justice.

Key Focus Areas

Legal Awareness

Organising legal literacy camps and workshops on women's rights, cyber safety, domestic violence, corporate compliance, workplace harassment, property, and inheritance laws. FICCI FLO conducts specialized awareness sessions on the POSH (Prevention of Sexual Harassment) Act to foster safe and equitable workplaces for women.

Civic Leadership

Preparing young female professionals and students with public policy tools, legislative understanding, and advocacy training to build future civic leaders.

Policy Advocacy

FICCI FLO conducts meetings with state ministers and Members of Parliament (MPs) for policy support and cross-sector collaboration for women empowerment initiatives. Also, the women-led organization participates in institutional consultations and government conclaves, which demonstrate high policy-level impact.

Grassroots Capacity Building

Training local women leaders in rural governance, public administration, budgeting, and legal rights to strengthen grassroots democracy.

Strategic Collaborations & Institutional Partnerships

FLO partners with central and state ministries, statutory bodies, and legal authorities to drive compliance, economic empowerment, and regulatory literacy through meaningful dialogues and workshops. For example: collaboration with government portals, such as the Government e-Marketplace (GeM), and alliances with law universities and policy institutes to expand the reach of legal aid initiatives.
