Microgreens Session

FICCI FLO Ahmedabad organised an engaging Microgreens Session, bringing together members, school children, educators, and community participants for an interactive learning experience on sustainable food practices and urban farming. The session was organised by Dr. Geetika Saluja and Rutvi Vyas under the leadership of Chairperson Usha Jaiswal, highlighting the chapter’s commitment to sustainability, innovation, and community engagement.

The workshop provided hands-on training in seed germination, nutrition cycles, water optimisation, and home-based microgreens cultivation. Participants discovered how microgreens can support healthier lifestyles while contributing to reduced food miles, efficient resource utilisation, and circular economy practices.

Guest speaker Aditi Mali shared her entrepreneurial journey in urban farming, inspiring attendees to explore sustainable business opportunities and innovation in the agri-food sector. The event also celebrated women entrepreneurship through wholesome satvic cuisine prepared by Hetal Ashra of Hetal’s Kitchen. Participants further demonstrated their commitment to sustainability by practising carpooling and carrying reusable water bottles, reinforcing the importance of conscious living and responsible environmental stewardship.

Impact & Outcome 

The Microgreens Session achieved a total footprint of 100 FLO Members, 60 School Children, 20 School Educators, and 10 Community Members. It successfully created awareness about microgreens as a simple, resource-efficient, and environmentally responsible food solution while encouraging healthy eating habits and climate-conscious lifestyles. 

It also sought to integrate concepts of STEM, Green Technology, Circular Economy, and Agro Innovation through practical learning. Overall, the event inspired women and young learners to explore sustainable entrepreneurship opportunities while adopting eco-friendly practices that contribute to environmental conservation and community well-being.
