On 25th July 2026, Lucknow Public College in Gomti Nagar hosted Advitiya, a career awareness programme that brought together 1,200+ girl students, including students who travelled from Barabanki and Hardoi, to interact with professionals working on some of India’s most ambitious space missions.
The programme featured Dr. Roopa M. V., Deputy Project Director at ISRO-ISTRAC, who shared her professional journey and spoke candidly about the discipline, perseverance, curiosity, and resilience required to build a career in space science.
Dr. Moumita Dutta, who leads the Hyperspectral Optics Division, offered students a broader perspective on the diverse career opportunities within the space sector. Her interaction highlighted that space science encompasses a wide range of specialised fields, each offering unique opportunities for students with different interests and areas of expertise.
Dr. Ashok Kumar Sharma further enriched the discussion, providing students with another perspective from within ISRO-ISTRAC and helping create a more comprehensive understanding of what a career in the space sector entails.
Impact & Outcome
The programme provided 1,200+ young girls with direct exposure to women professionals who have built careers in India’s space sector.
By bringing together students from three districts, FLO Lucknow extended the programme beyond the city and created access for girls who may otherwise have had limited exposure to careers in space science. The initiative aimed to broaden their understanding of career possibilities and demonstrate that opportunities in the space sector are achievable through curiosity, education, persistence, and purposeful effort.
