Unbound Expressions: An Annual Art Confluence

FLO Uttarakhand, under the leadership of Chairperson Ms. Tripti Behl, hosted its annual art confluence, “Unbound Expressions,” at Hotel Inderlok in Dehradun, designed to elevate regional women artists and celebrate indigenous craftsmanship. It empowered regional women artists by providing them with a commercial platform to showcase and sell their work. The organizers structured the event to achieve several key goals: such as promoting local women painters, photographers, reviving traditional art forms like Aipan, and connecting independent creators with interior designers, architects, and buyers.

The event built a supportive community network for female creatives in the region. Formally inaugurated on April 26, the event immediately engaged the community by hosting a hands-on Aipan folk art workshop on its opening day, followed by a traditional Gond art workshop on April 27 to preserve and promote tribal heritage.

Ms. Kusum Pandey, Lalit Kala Akademi National Awardee and Uttarakhand’s first woman recipient of the prestigious honour, graced the event as guest of honour at the inaugural session on April 26. Following are the other featured artists from Unbound Expressions:

  • Folk Artists – Rakhi & Anuj, Aipan Art

The exhibition concluded with a sophisticated curtain-drop panel discussion titled “Curating for Spaces: How can an artist cater to evolving design aesthetics,” where prominent architects, designers, and hospitality experts guided local creators on how to align their traditional art forms with modern architecture and commercial interior markets.
