FICCI FLO, under the leadership of 43rd National President, Ms. Puja Garg, hosted an enlightening and insightful webinar, titled “Is Your Business Export Ready,” focused on equipping attendees with the knowledge and skills on how to make a business global through export.
The event was chaired by the FLO National Exports Initiative Head, Ms. Swati Verma, and Co-Lead, Ms. Ritika Sarna, who planned this webinar with the support of the National President, Ms. Puja Garg, to highlight the importance of expanding women-led enterprises in the international markets.
The webinar featured a panel of speakers, including Mr. Ashish Jain, Deputy Director General, Federation of Indian Exports Organization (FIEO); Ms. Mitali Nikore, founder, Nikor Associates; and Ms. Devli Sehgal, Director, Anagya Wellness, who shared insights on export opportunities, licensing requirements, and best practices.
Key Highlights Of Webinar
- Ashish Jain provided comprehensive guidance on the necessary documentation, processes, and resources available through FIEO to support first-time exporters, and especially women entrepreneurs.
- Mr Jain outlined the necessary steps for entering international trade, including setting up an organization, obtaining a PAN and IEC code, registering with Export Promotion Councils, and participating in their training programs and international exhibitions.
- Mitali Nikore discussed India’s growing export landscape and new trade agreements with countries such as the UK, the EU, and New Zealand.
- Ms. Nikore outlined a roadmap for women traders, including identifying target markets and products, quality testing and compliance, and proper documentation. She highlighted sectors with strong potential for women entrepreneurs, including textiles, food processing, and healthcare.
- Devli Sehgal shared her personal experiences as a first-generation exporter and emphasized the importance of credibility and storytelling in global trade.
- Ms. Sehgal discussed India’s existing trade agreements with countries like Singapore and ASEAN, highlighting the potential for e-commerce exports to grow from $5-8 billion currently to $250-300 billion by 2030.
- The webinar concluded with discussions about creating sector-specific support programs and resources for FLO members interested in exports.
Impact & Outcome
Around 370 attendees participated in this engaging and informative webinar, which guided them on how to make their businesses export-ready. They learned about how to identify demand, comply with foreign regulations, and adapt products to local tastes. It is always wise to fulfil high demand in a foreign market with low competition. This webinar is just the beginning for the Exports initiative, as it will continue empowering women entrepreneurs by helping them enter international markets and export goods globally.
