The YFLO interactive session with guest speakers Mana Shetty, Queenie Dhody, Ruksana Eisa and Sharmilla Khanna began with each speaker highlighting their areas of expertise.
Sharmilla Khanna enriched the audience by emphasizing the importance of doing something worthwhile for every woman. She gave numerous examples of friends and clients who came to her with ideas such as selling homemade cakes, handmade cosmetics, fashion designers and how with her knowledge she turned them around to some successful names in the industry today.
Mana Shetty spoke on the importance of Philanthropy and her NGO – “Save the Children India Foundation”. She is actively involved in the rehabilitation of the underprivileged and trafficked women. She also told the audience how the organisation has been instrumental in giving vocational training to such women, who now run well established beauty salons and work in the house keeping department of well known star hotels in Mumbai.
Queenie Dhody spoke about her journey from being a model to a deluxe connoisseur to now a renowned jewellery designer. She explained the importance of parenting and also stressed that mother’s of teenagers or growing up children should never ignore a child’s problem. She also firmly believes that if the problem is severe then one most sort out for professional help.
Soft spoken and savvy Ruksana Eisa educated the members, about how women nowadays look good but the important factor is also to “feel good”. She said that the first impression which usually builds in the first 4-7 seconds, is also most of the times the last impression. Therefore it is very essential to be well groomed. Members truly appreciated the fact that when Ruksana acknowledged that there is no age limit for anyone – woman or man to be groomed. She stated that anyone can be groomed as long as they are receptive and eager enough to do so, which would ultimately lead to their confidence building.
The talk ended with a very interesting and participative Q&A session where each speaker disclosed their definitions of “me time” and how important it is for woman to feel extremely worthy of themselves in whatever they might be doing. The event on the whole was a huge success with Past FLO and YFLO Chairperson’s – Mrs. Pinky Reddy, Mrs. Parvathi Reddy, Mrs. Mansi Malik and Mrs. Mourya Boda along with a very good turn around of over 135 members.
