Free Eye Check-Up Camp

FLO Amritsar, under the leadership of Chairperson Ms. Tannya Khanna, organised the “Comprehensive Vision Screening & Eye Health Awareness Camp” on 13th May 2026 at Amritsar Swadeshi Textile Corporation, Majitha Road, Amritsar. Conducted under the Health, Wellness & Life Skills enabler, the initiative focused on preventive healthcare and workplace wellness for women working in grassroots industrial sectors.

The camp was specially organised for the women workforce engaged in stitching, embroidery, and textile-related manufacturing activities that require continuous visual precision and long working hours. Understanding the importance of healthy vision in ensuring both productivity and overall well-being, the initiative aimed to provide accessible and timely eye care support directly at the workplace level.

The camp was conducted in collaboration with Preet Optical Clinic, Preet Hospital, and OTT Foundation, with special participation from The Head Scarves, a 100% women-led and women-operated factory. Medical professionals conducted comprehensive eye examinations, vision screenings, specialist consultations, and basic health check-ups for the workers. Required medicines and healthcare guidance were also provided free of cost to the beneficiaries.

The initiative primarily benefitted women workers from rural and semi-urban outreach areas, including Nag Kalan, Bal Kalan, Pandori, Verka, Majitha, and Wadala Viram, many of whom have limited access to regular specialised healthcare facilities. By bringing healthcare services directly to the factory premises, the camp successfully reduced accessibility and affordability barriers while promoting awareness around eye health, workplace wellness, and preventive care practices.
