FLO Chennai, under the leadership of Chairperson Dr. Amulya Rao, hosted “Soil to Soul: Empowering Farmers, Connecting Markets,” an Agri, Agro-Based Food Processing Initiative, aimed at connecting conscious consumers with the grassroots women producers. It helped farmers to turn into market-ready entrepreneurs through structured support in packaging, pricing, and fulfilment. The event was executed through an end-to-end approach designed to ensure quality, transparency, and meaningful engagement between women-led SHGs and FLO Members. The process began with the identification and verification of prospective SHGs from women farmer communities producing traditional and natural food products such as indigenous rice varieties, mud-coated lentils, palm sugars, and other farm-based goods. Each SHG was carefully assessed for authenticity, production practices, and quality standards to establish credibility. Following this, products were curated and presented through a thoughtfully designed catalogue. The catalogue included detailed product descriptions, suggested combinations, and simple recipes to enhance usability and encourage informed purchasing. A pre-order model was introduced, supported by curated combo offerings to drive interest and convenience. SHGs were then oriented on product bundling, pricing, packaging standards, and order expectations. Special emphasis was placed on eco-friendly packaging using cloth bags and sustainable materials, ensuring alignment with the initiative’s values. Once orders were received, pre-orders were consolidated along with delivery details and shared with respective SHGs. Continuous coordination and follow-ups ensured timely and accurate dispatch. The fulfilment stage was closely monitored to maintain consistency in packaging, quality, and delivery experience. Finally, post-delivery feedback was collected from customers, capturing insights on product quality, packaging, and overall satisfaction. These learnings have been documented to refine the model, strengthen execution, and scale the initiative effectively in future phases.
