Retreat – Jaipur (National Initiative – Handloom, Textiles & Handicrafts)

FLO Vadodara, under the leadership of Chairperson Ms. Shivani P. Patel, organized a memorable two-day retreat in the vibrant city of Jaipur. The retreat brought together the FLO members for an experience that beautifully blended relaxation, learning & cultural exploration, and bonding in the Pink City.

The retreat began with a warm welcome and lunch at Radisson Blu, Jaipur, followed by a visit to the Anokhi Museum, a meaningful learning experience under the National Initiative on Handloom, Textiles, and Handicrafts. This segment of the retreat was designed to deepen members’ understanding of India’s rich artisanal heritage through immersive, hands-on interactions.

At Anokhi Museum, members discovered the history of block printing — how this ancient craft originated, evolved, and continues to thrive in Rajasthan. Participants observed live demonstrations by artisans and experienced block printing firsthand. Each member was given a napkin to create her own block-printed piece, making the experience both educational and personally fulfilling. The evening concluded with a graceful dinner at Baradari, themed “Heritage Chic.”

On the second day, members embarked on an early morning Jhalana Safari, which became a thrilling highlight as they spotted a leopard—making it an unforgettable and successful adventure. Members later visited the Gyan Museum and Gem Plaza, where they experienced the royal opulence and artistic grandeur of Jaipur’s precious heritage, followed by a relaxed lunch at Tapri Café.

At the Gem Plaza, a hub of traditional craftsmanship. Members were introduced to the intricate process of jewellery making — from design ideation and stone selection. They witnessed skilled craftsmen at work and gained insight into the precision, artistry, and heritage behind every handcrafted piece.

Next was the visit to the Gyan Museum, where members explored a visually rich journey through the history of jewellery. The museum showcased the evolution of designs from the Mughal era, highlighting the cultural narratives, and artistic intricacy embedded in India’s jewellery traditions.

The visit to Anokhi Museum, Gem Plaza and Gyan Museum all together strengthened members’ appreciation for India’s Handloom, Textiles and Handicraft legacy, aligning meaningfully with FLO’s commitment to preserving and promoting cultural craftsmanship. The afternoon featured the much-awaited exclusive FLO Royale Polo Match at the Polo Club Rajasthan, an engaging and elegant event where members had the opportunity to understand the sport beyond its glamour.

The session became truly special with the presence of HH Maharaja Padmanabh Singh, who graciously joined the event and, through his talk, offered insightful perspectives on the legacy of polo. He shared how polo was played in earlier times, the discipline and strategy behind the sport, and its deep-rooted significance in royal history.

Members enjoyed watching the game while simultaneously learning about the rules, techniques, and heritage associated with polo. The experience beautifully aligned with FLO’s Member Networking objective by bringing members together in an inspiring environment that blended learning, culture, and camaraderie.

The event concluded with high tea, leaving members enriched with new knowledge, meaningful connections, and an unforgettable royal experience. The day concluded with a lively evening celebration and dinner — “FLO on the Floor” at Swinton House, where members came together in chic black and metallic ensembles to celebrate sisterhood, joy, and togetherness.

The Jaipur Retreat was not just about enjoyment — it was a celebration of womanhood, confidence, and connection. It brought women together, strengthened bonds, and inspired them to live life to the fullest with renewed enthusiasm, positivity, and purpose.
