Finance Made Simple – Financial Literacy Workshop

FLO Bangalore’s Social Impact Circle organised the “Finance Made Simple – Financial Literacy Workshop” on 23rd July 2026 at M.S. Ramaiah Faculty of Dental Sciences, Bengaluru. The interactive session was thoughtfully designed for approximately 25 women interns, young doctors, and nursing professionals, aiming to equip them with essential financial knowledge right from the early stages of their careers. Recognising that many young healthcare professionals begin earning independently but often lack formal exposure to personal finance, the workshop sought to bridge this crucial knowledge gap in a practical and relatable manner.

The workshop was graced by Dr. Kavitha Prasad, Dean of M.S. Ramaiah Faculty of Dental Sciences, who attended as the Special Guest, lending institutional support and encouragement to the initiative. The session itself was led by Ms. Preetha Wali, Co-founder and Director of Pay It Forward, who brought her expertise to life through an engaging and highly interactive format. Rather than relying on theoretical explanations, she used real-life examples and open discussions to make financial concepts accessible and memorable for the young audience.

Topics covered during the workshop included budgeting, financial goal setting, understanding inflation, investment basics, building emergency funds, different types of loans, insurance planning, and responsible borrowing practices. The session also delved into estate planning and the often-overlooked importance of writing a Will, alongside crucial awareness on identifying and avoiding financial scams and adopting safe investing habits.

The event saw participation from several key FICCI FLO Bengaluru members, including Mrs. Deepa Bhoopesh Reddy, Chairperson; Ms. Neelam Agarwal, Head of the Social Impact Circle; Dr. Vibha Shetty; Ms. Sakshi Ram Chennani; Ms. Shilpa Giria; and Ms. Radhika, reflecting strong organisational commitment to the cause.

The workshop received an enthusiastic response from attendees, many of whom expressed interest in attending more advanced sessions on investments, taxation, and wealth management in the future. This positive reception has encouraged the Social Impact Circle to consider organising follow-up workshops tailored for students and young professionals. Overall, the event reinforced FICCI FLO Bengaluru’s ongoing commitment to empowering women through financial literacy, practical life skills, and informed decision-making, helping them build a strong foundation for long-term financial independence.
