YFLO Ahmedabad, under the leadership of Chairperson Ms. Neha Goyal, hosted a profound and thought-provoking conversation on “Modern Femininity – The Power of Being Fully Yourself” with globally renowned mythologist and storyteller Dr. Seema Anand. The event was held at 079 Stories and gathered FLO members to explore identity, emotional wellbeing, and feminine power in the modern world.
Dr. Anand, celebrated internationally for her work on feminine identity, emotional wellness, and ancient Indian cultural wisdom, led an insightful and enriching dialogue that brought together women aged 25 to 40 for an evening of reflection, learning, and personal rediscovery. Chairperson Neha Goyal opened the evening by emphasizing the importance of conversations that look beyond professional achievements and everyday responsibilities.
She highlighted the relevance of discussions that nurture emotional resilience, relational clarity, and inner wellbeing—areas that are deeply significant yet often ignored. She expressed gratitude to Dr. Anand for transforming ancient Indian narratives and feminine wisdom into accessible and empowering insights for today’s generation.
Dr. Anand began by sharing her journey—from studying Indian art and classical aesthetics to becoming a globally respected educator. She spoke about ancient Indian knowledge systems that beautifully celebrated femininity, emotional intelligence, and relational harmony.
A key highlight of the session was Dr. Anand’s exploration of ancient wisdom for modern relationships. She explained how ancient India placed greater value on emotional and relational intelligence than the modern world does. Relationships were viewed through the lens of energy balance, communication, and mutual understanding. She addressed misconceptions around physical perfection, emphasizing that ancient literature prioritized harmony and compatibility over comparison.
The discussion then shifted to feminine energy and modern womanhood. Dr. Anand explained why many contemporary women often feel disconnected from their feminine energy due to constant pressures to perform, compete, and produce. She stressed that ambition and femininity can coexist powerfully when inner energies are balanced. She shared simple yet meaningful rituals—grounding practices, mindful dressing, intentional self-care, slowing down—that help women reconnect with their inner presence and confidence.
In her segment on emotional wellbeing and self-worth, Dr. Anand differentiated between sensuality (experiencing life through the senses) and self-esteem, and how both shape inner fulfillment. She discussed the guilt many women feel when prioritizing joy, and how everyday pleasure practices—movement, breath, touch, creativity, and nourishment—can transform emotional health.
The discussion on connection, intimacy, and long-term relationships provided practical, relatable insights. She explained why relationships often lose spark due to routine and emotional fatigue, and emphasized that intimacy is built through shared rituals, presence, and small acts of care. She encouraged women to understand their needs alongside their partner’s and spoke about “re-ritualizing” relationships through appreciation, shared meals, eye contact, and simple gestures.
Dr. Anand also highlighted the body as a language, explaining how Indian culture traditionally used fragrance, textiles, jewelry, and movement as forms of self-expression, strength, and presence. She urged women to see daily grooming not as a duty but as an act of self-love.
When speaking about the next generation, she addressed why young people struggle with identity, communication, and clarity in relationships. She emphasized the need for early emotional literacy, boundary-setting, open communication, and confidence-building from childhood.
In her segment on social media and modern challenges, she discussed how digital culture has reshaped expectations around beauty and desirability, contributing to comparison, insecurity, and diluted emotional connection. She highlighted the importance of redefining intimacy in a world full of distractions. The conversation closed with a powerful question: What is one truth you would whisper to every woman under 40?
Dr. Anand’s message was transformational—urging women to trust themselves, resist shrinking to fit societal expectations, recognize the inherent worth of their story and their body, and invest intentionally in themselves and their relationships. The session proved inspiring, enriching, and deeply meaningful, reaffirming YFLO Ahmedabad’s commitment to fostering personal growth, cultural learning, and women’s empowerment.
The session witnessed an enthusiastic participation of 75 members. Dr. Seema Anand’s insights reminded participants that modern femininity is not about perfection, but about presence, awareness, and the courage to be wholly and authentically oneself.
