FLO Mumbai, in collaboration with Yes Bank and in celebration of International Women’s Day, collaborated on Yes PowHerUp, which was launched with FLO Mumbai as a pilot project.
Yes Bank expanded the initiative pan-India. Yes PowHerUp – Empowering Women in Every Step of the Way, a product launch program. The program featured panel discussions where distinguished women business leaders shared their entrepreneurial journeys and the challenges they faced.
The panel consisted of FLO Mumbai Chairperson Ms. Aarmeen Mogul Dordi, Ms. Rupa Naik (Director, World Trade Centre), and Ms. Deepshikha Arora (IRS Commissioner, GST). Topics of discussion included gender parity, maternity leave, childcare creches, paternity leave, and the need for policy modifications to encourage women to return to work after childbirth.
Experts highlighted that women currently contribute 14% of the total labor force, significantly impacting economic growth. The government has introduced several policies, particularly in the startup and MSME sectors, to support women entrepreneurs by providing financial funding at concessional rates. Several corporations have already implemented creche facilities within their premises, encouraging women to resume work sooner post childbirth.
Several MNCs have introduced policies that actively support women’s participation in the workforce, acknowledging their exceptional skills, talent, and commitment. Ms. Aarmeen also spoke about the FLO Hyderabad Industrial Park, which is the first all-women-owned industrial park and has been recognized globally. Delegations from Germany and ASEAN countries have visited the park to understand its business model.
Women leaders reinforced the idea that reservations are unnecessary, as women today are competitive across all fields, clearly demonstrated by the fact that 14% of India’s workforce consists of women.
