Village Adoption Program

FLO Coimbatore, in collaboration with Tamil Nadu Agricultural University, started the Sustainable Agricultural Initiative Project at FLO Coimbatore’s Adopted Tribal Village.

On April 2024, the chapter established a borewell equipped with a 7.5 HP, 10-stage submersible pump, powered by environmentally friendly solar panels for sustainable groundwater extraction this project aimed to provide reliable access to clean water for assured irrigation across several fields. Joint ownership was given to 10 tribal farmers for utilizing the new bore well.

National President Ms. Joyshree Das Verma was invited as the Chief Guest and addressed the gathering and mentioned farming is an act of resilience and hope. Dr. P. P. Murugan, Director of Extension Education, TNAU, Coimbatore, Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) from Tirupur, Coimbatore, and Ooty along with TNAU scientists were also present and felicitated the program.

FLO President Joyshree Das Verma, Chapter Chairperson Meena Swaminathan, Initiative Head Dr. Kamini Surendaran, and members inspected the fields in the hills and were happy to witness the impressive cultivation.
