The Art of Investing in Art

FLO Ahmedabad, led by chairperson Madhu Banthia, hosted a meaningful and well-planned evening at the serene and tastefully curated Bespoke Art Gallery, exploring the theme Purusha Prakriti, an artistic reflection on the relationship between man and nature. Curated by the spirited Uma Nair, who flew in from Delhi, the walkthrough brought together works by globally acclaimed artists, presented across multiple mediums from sculpture in wood and metal to expressive canvas artworks.

Uma Nair, an author of the book “Purusha Prakriti”, led the session with her infectious energy, lyrical storytelling, and a deep understanding of each piece, transforming the entire walkthrough into a multi-sensory experience. Day Chair Anar Gavarwala played a significant role in event planning and creating a positive experience for the guests.

Adding richness to the evening was Devin Gawarwala, the owner and curator of Bespoke Art Gallery, whose thoughtful anecdotes, especially about a piece he had personally chosen to acquire, offered an intimate perspective into the art walk. Artists Keshri Nandan and Karl Antao were present and generously shared insights into their creative processes, deepening the experience for all attendees.

Subtly but surely, the role of Art is changing. Art as an alternate asset class is gaining huge popularity. The art industry today is worth over $3 trillion and has an annual turnover of $30 billion. To be able to understand the art market, members need to understand art and artists. This was a small beginning in that direction.
