Talk On Medicolegal Awareness By Badsha Legal At Rajalakshmi Health City

FLO Chennai, under the leadership of Chairperson Niyati A. Mehta, hosted a comprehensive Legal Awareness Program at the campus of Annaii Medical College and Rajalakshmi Health City in Pennalur, Chennai. The session was led by Mrs. Vennila Thambidurai, Senior Advocate at Badsha Legal, and addressed some of the most pressing medico-legal concerns faced by today’s healthcare professionals. 

The interactive guest lecture covered a wide array of critical topics, including medical negligence defence strategies, SOP development for legal and clinical compliance, and the oversight and audit of key hospital committees such as Organ Transplant, Ethics, and Clinical Trials. Mrs.Thambidurai also elaborated on structuring patient consent and documentation, contract drafting for clinical trials, employment and consultancy agreements, and vendor/tech transfer agreements—all tailored specifically for the healthcare sector.

Additionally, the session delved into contemporary issues such as AI in healthcare, telemedicine regulations, and patient data protection in light of laws like DPDPB, GDPR, and HIPAA. Practical guidance was also shared on medical record-keeping to aid in legal defence and navigating RTI/legal responses for forums, courts, medical councils, and tribunals. With around 121 participants, including students, interns, doctors, and nurses, the program was extremely well-received. 

Mrs. Vennila patiently answered many questions that were asked. Many attendees expressed that the session was not only informative but also an eye-opener, offering practical tools to navigate the increasingly complex legal landscape in healthcare. The initiative by FLO Chennai underscored the growing need for legal literacy among medical professionals and reaffirmed the institution’s commitment to empowering its teams with knowledge and compliance readiness.
