FLO Uttarakhand, under the visionary leadership of Chairperson Dr. Geeta Khanna, in association with Kairos Consciousness and HerZindagi.com, hosted a powerful and insightful virtual webinar titled ‘Smithing Success – FromConcept to Shark Tank’. The session was part of the FLO National initiative of Branding, Marketing & Media. The session focused on showcasing women-led entrepreneurial journeys that are redefining the Indian business landscape.
The event featured a conversation with Pragya Batra and Divya Batra, co-founders of Shark Tank-featured brand Quirksmith, and was moderated by Megha Mamgain, Managing Editor – Health & Lifestyle, Jagran New Media. Serving as Day Chair for the session was Komal Batra, Past Chairperson (2021–22) and Lead – Branding, Marketing & Media, FLO Uttarakhand, who reaffirmed FLO’s commitment to empowering women-led ventures through visibility, mentorship, and meaningful conversations.
During the session, the Batra sisters candidly shared their entrepreneurial journey, beginning with a simple act of gifting handcrafted jewellery to each other, which led to the creation of Quirksmith—a brand built on authenticity, creativity, andcourage. “My best work comes when I create for myself,” shared Divya, highlighting the role of personal purpose and emotional connection in brand building.
Pragya added, “Money wasn’t the only decision-making factor. The bigger question was—how many people do we need to reach before we give up on something that felt so right?” The conversation delved deep into the power of community-driven branding, the impact of digital storytelling, and the importance of staying true to one’s vision. They also reflected on the transformative role Shark Tank India played in amplifying their brand’s reach after seven years of organic growth.
A significant portion of the discussion focused on workplace empowerment, with over 60% of Quirksmith’s team comprising women. From hiring a female production manager to encouraging women artisans to lead teams, the sisters shared how the brand is actively working to shift traditional gender roles. “It was a tough task in the beginning, but now we have women leading teams of artisans—and that’s powerful,” said Divya.
Pragya added, “When women work together, there’s a different kind of gratitude, empathy, and respect— it’s not just about skills, but about creating choices and building confidence.” The session was filled with authentic moments, including a heartfelt poem recited by Divya, which paid tribute to the strength andgrace of women creators. Moderator Megha Mamgain brought her editorial expertise to the fore, seamlessly guiding the dialogue around brand building, digital visibility, and creating impact through storytelling.
The session concluded with an engaging Q&A, where participants from across the country joined via Zoom, leaving inspired by the sisters’ story of passion, purpose, and perseverance. National Past President Kiran Gera expressed appreciation for the brand and its jewellery, noting how the creative pieces are ideal for both everyday wear and professional settings.
Chairperson Dr. Geeta Khanna shared her admiration, stating, “Divya and Pragya brought to the table not just their story, but a masterclass in courage, creativity, and commitment. Their clarity of purpose, combined with deep authenticity and business acumen, was truly inspiring. We are proud to spotlight such women who are shaping a more inclusive, artistic, and empowered future.”
