Shaam-e-Marham- A FLO Sufi Soirée

FLO Jaipur, under the leadership of Chairperson Dr. Rimmi Shekhawat, organized Shaam-e-Marham, a Sufi Soirée performed by Divya Batra Das and Team at Magnolia, JLN Marg, Jaipur. Hosted under the wedding vertical, this event combined celebration with empowerment and brought visibility to women-led enterprises associated with the wedding industry.

Earlier this season, FLO Jaipur, in collaboration with St. Xavier’s College, Nevta, conducted a Mehendi Skill Development Workshop for girls from nearby villages. This programme was designed not only for skill enhancement, but also for economic and social upliftment by integrating them into the modern wedding ecosystem.

Shaam-e-Marham marks the second phase of the initiative. The trained girls were provided a structured and dignified platform to engage with the wedding market and generate income from their skills. During the Sufi Soirée, these young Mehendi artists were given the opportunity to:

  • Showcase their work in a professional setup.
  • Interact with potential clientele.
  • Earn directly from services provided.
  • Gain confidence, market exposure and recognition.

The initiative successfully transitioned from skill-building to income-generation and market readiness. It also created visibility for several components of the wedding industry including local Lakh bangle makers, wedding accessories, and local vendors.

Dr. Rimmi Shekhawat shared, “I wanted to create ‘healing medicine’, touching different emotions through their performances. I also wanted to support and give a platform to various elements of the wedding industry like women putting Mehendi, local Lakh bangles, Mukhwaas, wedding pouches, etc. We have shared the FLO platform for wedding vendors to grow further in their businesses.”

Shaam-e-Marham was not just an event but a successful continuation of FLO Jaipur’s ongoing intervention under the Wedding Vertical. From training to implementation to income and opportunity, this project stands as a practical example of creating livelihoods and entrepreneurship within the wedding industry. FICCI FLO Jaipur remains committed to promoting women artisans, skill-based entrepreneurship and industry inclusion.
