FICCI FLO, under the leadership of the 42nd National President, Ms. Poonam Sharma, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Transform Rural India (TRI) to establish a Career Guidance and Mobility Centre (CGMC) in Tappal, a peri-urban block in Aligarh district. TRI is a non-profit organization dedicated to rural development in India through boosting local leadership, women empowerment, and sustainable livelihoods.
FICCI FLO will fund the CGMC project in order to support women and young girls from Tappal town, which has an overall literacy rate of 45.5%, with female literacy at only 34.4%. The centre will serve as a platform where young girls will get access to career guidance, skill development programs, and placement opportunities to prepare for the upcoming local job markets.
Women from Tappal will have access to vocational courses covering warehouse operations, inventory management, cold chain management, air cargo documentation, packaging for Agri cargo, and much more. Also, the centre will provide mobility training to women under the Tappal Delivery Sisters initiative to teach last-mile delivery and logistics hub operations.
The project also includes digital skilling training for the young girls to prepare them for data and MIS roles. They will learn MS Office, data management, digital tools, and more. This MoU signing is a part of FICCI FLO’s efforts towards making rural women economically independent and self-reliant by equipping them with skills and training to earn a livelihood.
