Legal and Ethical Considerations for a Startup

Led by Chairperson Dr. Divya Abhishek, FLO Chennai remains dedicated to fostering knowledge and awareness among aspiring entrepreneurs. As part of this initiative, Ms. Kavitha Vijay, FLO Member and Joint Managing Partner of ICUL delivered a session on “Legal and Ethical Considerations for a Startup”, attended by 150 people.

She emphasized the importance of understanding both legal and ethical frameworks when establishing a business to ensure smooth operations and long-term sustainability. She highlighted the significance of protecting intellectual property through trademarks, copyrights, and patents to safeguard brand identity and prevent infringement. Addressing employment laws, she discussed the necessity of adhering to fair hiring practices, ensuring workplace safety, and complying with labor regulations to avoid legal disputes.

Ms. Kavitha Vijay also underscored the critical role of data privacy and security, stressing the need to protect customer information and adhere to regulatory guidelines. Furthermore, she spoke on ethical business practices, advocating for transparency, honesty in advertising, and a commitment to sustainability.
