Inauguration of the FLO Bangalore Industrial Park

A landmark initiative, FLO Bangalore Industrial Park, came into reality. This first of its kind women led industrial park was recently inaugurated in the Gowribidanur Industrial Area, Chikkaballapur District in Karnataka. It marks one of the most significant milestones in FLO Bangalore’s history.

This initiative aims to lower long-standing entry barriers that have historically kept women, especially first-generation entrepreneurs, out of manufacturing and large scale enterprise. The inauguration day began with the traditional ground-breaking ceremony at the Industrial Park in the presence of National President, Poonam Sharma, National Initiatives Head, Ujjwala Singhania, FICCI Director, Rashmi Sarita & Mourya Boda, Past Chairperson, YFLO Hyderabad.

The beautiful ceremony on ground made the FLO contingent swell up in pride as they laid the foundation for a flourishing industrial park. This magnificent and grand inaugural ceremony was held that evening at ITC Windsor Manor from 6:30 pm to 8:30 pm in the presence of several dignitaries:

  • Ms. Poonam Sharma, National President, FLO
  • Ms. Ujjwala Singhania, National Initiatives Head, FLO
  • Ms. Soumya Reddy, former MLA
  • Mr. Rajiv Gowda, former MP, Rajya Sabha
  • Mr. Ramamurthy, IPS & Chairman, CMR Group of Institutions
  • Mrs. Kamakshi Wodeyar, Founder trustee, Maharaja Jayachamaraja Wadiyar Foundation
  • Mr. Siddharth Agarwal, FICCI Chairman, Bangalore
  • Ms. Uma Reddy, President, FICCI, Bangalore

The event had 150 FLO members in attendance, along with friends and family who gathered with great fervor to celebrate this momentous occasion. The Industrial Park committee headed by Revathi Raju, Past Chairperson Bangalore & GB member, worked closely with KIADB (Karnataka Industrial Areas Development Board) & KUM (Karnataka Udyog Mitra) to secure 50 acres of Industrial land in the 3rd phase of Gowribidanur Industrial Park.

Gowribidanur was deliberately chosen for its balance of connectivity with available infrastructure and long-term potential growth, while avoiding the overcrowding and restraints of Bengaluru’s saturated industrial zones. Mr. M V Rajeev Gowda, former Rajya Sabha MP, said this initiative is expected to bring together women’s workforce participation and the national vision of strengthening, manufacturing and creating jobs.

Ms. Poonam Sharma, National President FLO, lauded FLO Bangalore and its team for this significant achievement, expressed her deep appreciation and pledged her continued support for this initiative. She hoped that this set the benchmark and created the inspiration for other FLO chapters across the country to follow on the same path.

Ms. Gunjan Krishna, Commissioner for Industrial Development and Director, Department of Industries and Commerce, who has been instrumental in enabling the FLO Bangalore Industrial Park, highlighted the broader significance, saying, & the project reflects a progressive way of thinking about industrial growth, one that is inclusive, decentralised, and future-focused.

FLO Bangalore Industrial Park is the creation of a legacy—built by women, for women, and for the future of industry, truly transforming women-led vision into industrial reality.
