FLO Mumbai, under the leadership of Chairperson Ms. Pooja Arambhan Tiwari, conducted a dedicated Health Screening Camp for the deaf and aphasic community at St. Stephen’s School, in partnership with iiV Health Solutions and Wockhardt Foundation. As a part of FLO Kavach: Healthcare initiative, the health camp helped everyone, especially vulnerable or underrepresented groups, by providing them with quality healthcare.
A total of 55 individuals were screened, including school teachers, junior college faculty, and support staff. They got early screening for diabetes and cardiovascular disease, both of which remain leading causes of disability and mortality in India, especially when undiagnosed in marginalised communities. Also, this health screening was conducted with sensitivity and support for communication needs, including the use of sign language interpreters and trained volunteers.
iiV Health Solutions provided digital Peripheral Artery Disease screening equipment, trained technicians and reporting. On the other hand, Wockhardt Foundation deployed healthcare staff and managed diagnostics.
Key Highlights
- The health camp included the following tests: random blood sugar (RBS), blood pressure (BP) monitoring, peripheral artery disease (PAD) screening, body mass index (BMI) measurement, ECG, and optometry.
- Created awareness of the silent symptoms of cardiovascular and diabetic risks.
- Promoted inclusivity by reaching a differently-abled community.
- Built trust with school staff and support systems through access to free and quality care.
36 women and 19 men benefited from the health screening camp, which was part of the FLO Kavach initiative event. The health camp reinforced FICCI FLO Mumbai’s commitment to community healthcare, equity, and gender-responsive outreach.
