FLO Chennai, under the leadership of Chairperson Ms. Niyati A. Mehta, had the privilege of attending an exclusive exhibition by renowned contemporary Indian artist Seema Kohli at Lalit Kala Akademi, presented in collaboration with Gallery Veda, led by our very own member Preeti Garg.
The showcase featured Kohli’s latest body of work, continuing her celebrated exploration of the Divine Feminine, but this time expanding further into the realms of nature, trees, and the interconnectedness of life. The vibrant hues, intricate detailing, and deeply symbolic narratives in her artworks created a moving visual experience for everyone present.
The event included a captivating conversation moderated by our member Priya Tulsyan, who guided a thoughtful dialogue with the artist. Seema Kohli spoke about her artistic journey — how creativity became central to her identity and how each piece she creates is rooted in deep introspection and spiritual inquiry. Her narrative made it evident that for her, art is as essential as breathing— a language through which she communicates emotion, philosophy, and lived experience.
As the conversation progressed, members were given a unique window into the inspiration and processes behind her work. Kohli shared how mythology, womanhood, and now ecological elements weave together to form her visual storytelling. Her authenticity, passion, and dedication to her craft resonated strongly with the audience. A brief Q&A session added a personal touch, allowing members to engage directly with the artist.
Despite the heavy rains outside, the event saw an enthusiastic turnout and was a true celebration of creativity and culture. Members left inspired by the artwork and the meaningful exchange of ideas — a memorable afternoon that beautifully highlighted FLO Chennai’s commitment to promoting art, dialogue, and community engagement.
