Candle Making Workshop: A Rural Skilling – Project Wing

FLO Siliguri, under the leadership of chairperson Mrs. Payal Periwal, successfully conducted a “Candle Making Workshop” as part of its rural skilling initiative under the Project Wing. The 4-hour session focused on providing hands-on learning and practical training to rural women regarding candle making to foster self-reliance and equip them with employable skills.

The workshop marked a significant step toward women’s economic empowerment, culminating in the formation of a Self-Help Group (SHG) among the trainees. As a continuation of support, FLO Siliguri has committed to providing employment opportunities for these women by assigning them candle-making work for the upcoming Diwali and Christmas events.

Additionally, a dedicated table will be provided free of cost to the SHG during major FLO events, allowing them to showcase and sell their handcrafted candles. Candle-making workshop benefited a total of 20 women as they learned employable skills.

This impactful initiative reflects FLO Siliguri’s ongoing dedication to creating sustainable livelihood opportunities for rural women under the leadership of Chairperson Mrs. Payal Periwal. Also, this event aligned with the vision of Viksit Bharat 2047 BY offering dignified earning opportunities and creative empowerment to women.
