FLO Ahmedabad launched the inaugural session of its Business Brilliance Series with a highly engaging seminar titled “Bank, Vaults and Taxmen – How to Handle an Income Tax Search”. Conducted by leading legal experts Advocate Nupur Shah and Advocate Namrata Trivedi, the session was designed to empower businesswomen with knowledge of their rights and responsibilities during income tax search and seizure operations.
The session, attended by 53 women, highlighted key aspects such as the legal framework governing search and seizure under the Income Tax Act, GST, and FEMA. Participants learned about the seizure of cash and assets, the importance of documentation, and the protocols around handling foreign currency and lockers.
Particular attention was given to female-specific guidelines, including dignity protocols during searches and special care for female family members. It was emphasized that a mangalsutra could not be seized under any circumstance and that proper records of jewellery and stree dhan are vital.
Attendees were also educated on their rights during searches, including protocols around statement recording, school hours, and daily routines. The session further touched upon corporate compliance, reiterating the requirement for at least one woman director in listed companies.
