FLO Vadodara, in collaboration with Sudeep Nutrition Pvt. Ltd., organized a Breast Cancer Awareness session at Nandesari Primary Gujarati Group School. The programme was conducted for school girls and their mothers, along with the female staff of the Sudeep Group, school faculty, and women from the nearby village community.
The session was led by Dr. Prachi Sabnis, consultant – obstetrician & gynecologist, Zydus Hospitals, Vadodara. She emphasized that breast cancer, though common, is highly treatable when detected early. Also, Dr. Prachi highlighted the importance of awareness, early screening, and timely medical consultation, while educating participants on key symptoms that should not be ignored.
Simple breast self-examination techniques were demonstrated to empower women to monitor their health proactively. Addressing myths, fear, and social stigma surrounding breast cancer, especially in rural settings, the session encouraged open discussion and greater health-seeking behaviour.
To reinforce learning with action, a private health check-up room was arranged, where a nurse from Zydus Hospital conducted individual screenings, helping women gain confidence in prioritizing preventive healthcare. The initiative marked a meaningful step toward strengthening breast cancer awareness in rural communities, reinforcing the message among 360 attendees that early detection and regular screening can save lives.
