Awareness Workshop for Mothers & Children

FLO Uttarakhand, under the leadership of Chairperson Dr. Geeta Khanna, who also serves as the Chairperson of the State Commission for Protection of Child Rights, successfully organized an awareness workshop for Mothers & Children at Doon Heritage School, Bhauwala, Dehradun, under the initiative of Linkage between Education Industry and Government.  

Held in collaboration with Parakastha Foundation, Lucknow, this unique workshop was designed for mothers of all ages and children between the ages of 2.5 and 18 years, with a focus on addressing critical health, nutrition, and wellness concerns impacting women and children today. The day chair for the event was Dr. Minakshi Soti, Vice Chairperson FLO Uttarakhand and Principal, Doon Heritage School, who conducted the entire workshop with great dedication and effort. 

The event was graced by Guests of Honour Kusum Kandwal, Chairperson of the State Commission for Women, Uttarakhand, along with Past Chairpersons Kiran Bhatt Todaria, Komal Batra, Dr. Neha Sharma (National Governing Body Member), and Anuradha Malla, as well as distinguished FLO members.

The workshop was facilitated by Kavita Singh from Parakastha Foundation, Lucknow, with impactful sessions by eminent speakers Roopa Soni, who shared nutritional guidance for women of all ages, and Rama Chopra, who addressed mental and emotional wellness for women above 40. Both speakers provided practical, actionable tips for adopting sustainable and healthy lifestyles. 

The sessions were designed to be highly engaging, combining expert presentations with interactive discussions, real-life examples, and participant involvement. Mothers and children were encouraged to share their personal challenges, allowing the program to address relevant, real-world concerns. 

This workshop aimed to emphasize the importance of nutrition in the daily lives of children and their mothers, while also addressing the nuances and significance of nutritional value during the pre-menopause phase of a woman’s life. The interactive program addressed a range of topics, including malnutrition in pregnant women and newborns, balanced nutrition and healthy lifestyle habits, prevention of lifestyle diseases in women and children, wellness and vitality guidance for women above 40, and health concerns arising from nutritional deficiencies and hormonal Imbalances.

Dr. Maansi Rastogi adeptly conducted the program as the Master of Ceremony, ensuring smooth proceedings throughout. The vote of thanks was presented by the Secretary, Smriti Batta. This impactful workshop reaffirmed FLO Uttarakhand’s commitment to empowering women through knowledge sharing and fostering healthier, more informed families for a better future. The session brought together around 100 participants, including students, teachers, and mothers of Doon Heritage School, along with FLO members and Executive Members, making it an intimate, interactive, and deeply personal experience.
