Assertiveness (National Initiative – Urban Skilling)

FLO Vadodara, under the leadership of Chairperson Ms. Shivani P. Patel, with the support of Udayan Care, organized a session on assertive communication for students of the 2nd year associated with Udayan Care under the Udayan Shalini Fellowship Program. The session, led by Mr. Amritpal Singh, focused on enabling participants to express themselves confidently while maintaining respect for others.

During the session, the girls learned how to speak confidently without hurting others and how to express their views politely yet firmly through structured activities. They understood the differences between passive, aggressive, and assertive responses through role-plays and practical demonstrations.

The girls practiced using “I” statements, maintaining a respectful tone, making appropriate eye contact, and using positive body language. They also realized that assertive communication plays an important role in handling peer pressure, managing conflicts, and making independent decisions. The session helped the 52 girls become more aware of their self-worth, build confidence, and develop a healthier and more effective communication style.
