FLO Ahmedabad, under the leadership of chairperson Madhu Banthia, hosted the Art Entrepreneurship event at Kanoria Art Gallery. It was an evening dedicated to art, a walkthrough of the art by artists-Discussion on how to promote art-entrepreneurship in India, support emerging artists through grants, and the roles of galleries and other foundations.
Art entrepreneurship plays a crucial role in building sustainable careers and businesses for emerging artists by bridging creativity with structured support systems. During our conversation with FLO members and curators, it became clear that foundations, galleries, and markets can actively shape an artist’s journey.
Through grants, opportunities, foundations can help upcoming artists gain financial stability, visibility, and professional guidance at early stages of their practice, along with mentorship, critical feedback, and institutional credibility that help artists navigate the art ecosystem
Discussions with Abhik Bhattacharji also led to talk about Platforms like Baro Market and initiatives such as Affordable Art India, which further democratize art by enabling artists to produce and sell merchandise and accessible works. Together, these interconnected systems of grants, markets, galleries, and collectors foster an ecosystem where creativity is nurtured alongside entrepreneurship.
