Keeping up with YFLO Hyderabad Chapter’s theme of the year ‘Learn, Implement and Inspire’, we conducted a programme on “Holistic Approach to Life and A Scientific Way of Being Fit” with Actress Ms.Shilpa Shetty in conversation with Mrs. Pinky Reddy. She shared her experiences and expert insights around what it takes to lead a healthy way of life, to develop and follow a fitness routine that works for your body and soul and the benefits of following a proper dietary discipline.

About The Speakers:

Ms. Shilpa Shetty Kundra:
Shilpa Shetty has been a successful actress for the last 19 years, made her debut in Baazigar in 1993 with a variety of roles under her belt from Dhadkan,Metro, etc. She turned into a social activist and took up the cause of HIV very seriously. She is an inspiring fitness icon because of her interest in yoga and spread awareness through her yoga DVD. She has also co-authored The Great Indian Diet Book. Shilpa now has a successful chain of spa’s under the name of IOSIS i-3 branches in Mumbai, Guwahati, Lucknow and Ghaziabad etc. With all these achievements her biggest wish is to fulfil her dream of giving back to society which is why she has started her own charity “Shilpa Shetty Foundation”.

Ms Pinky Reddy
A successful entrepreneur with interests in diverse and challenging fields such as retail, infrastructure, hospitality and social enterprises. With her strong passion for socially relevant and beneficial causes, she has actively engaged in wide ranging activities and businesses from being Managing Director of Lotus House Group, Aparna Foundation, FICCI FLO, Hyderabad 10K run, Young Indians, Indian School Of business (ISB), Young Presidents Organization (YPO) to associating with and organizing fund raising events for charitable institutions such as CRY, Save the Child apart from establishing her own charitable trust ‘Aparna Foundation’ committed to supporting the cause of the less privileged artisans of traditional and dying Indian art forms. She was also the Chairperson for FICCI FLO, Hyderabad Chapter 2011-12 and she is the current FLO National Governing Board Member.

KEY POINTS:
Mrs. Shetty gave few key points on maintaining good health and following a proper diet:
Chew your water. Swallow your food
Don’t over medicate
Don’t drink water with food
Do some physical exercise for at least thrice a week
You are 30% of what you exercise and 70% of what you eat
Key word to remember while eating is moderation, not over kill
Switch to brown
Avoid raw food after 4 pm
Inspiring members to follow healthy eating habits she concluded by saying “You are the architect of your weight and your misery. So make the life style changes today.”
